SERGIEV POSAD
Sergiev Posad - the center of Russian Orthodox Church.
You will visit the Holy-Trinity Sergeius Monastery (Laura), founded by St.
Sergeius of Radonezh in 1340, the Sacristy, where the treasures of Laura are
held: the unique icons, thechurch clothes, book, presented by the Russian
Tsars and grand princes.
VLADIMIR
Vladimir is a town with a millennial history. It was
founded at the end of the 10th century by Vladimir Svyatoslavovich, a Kiev
prince, on the bank of Klyaz'ma river. At the beginning of the 12th century the
town was fortified by Vladimir Monomakh. In the middle of the 12th century
Vladimir became the capital of the Vladimirsko-Suzdal'skoe principality, of the
all North-Eastern Russia. Grand dukes were crowned at the Vladimir cathedral of
the Blessed Virgin Assumption.
SUZDAL
Suzdal is a fabulous town of the ancient Russia.
The first
mentioning about Suzdal' dates from 1024. Suzdal' becomes the capital of the
Rostovo-Suzdal'skoe principality in the 12th century in the time of Yuriy
Dolgorukiy. From the 16th to the 19th century Suzdal' was a large religious
center.
The town not
only saved the spirit of ancient times, but stayed in the 17th century. There
are 200 ancient architectural monuments at the territory of 9 square meters.
